Lots of studying and experimenting in my sketchbook this month. More and more I find myself using my sketchbook for play and exploration. Even when doing a study, I am often asking myself how I can interpret what I'm looking at in a new way rather than just trying to copy.

I also find it a great place to try new brushes. I got Pharan's brushsets for CSP a while ago and honestly really, really love doodling with the chromatic aberration brush. It lends a sort of ephemeral feeling to all the sketches that makes me really happy, and helps me take them less seriously.

I'm also pleased with how the re-assimilation of my anime/manga influence is starting to show. Faces and proportions are taking on an appealing cuteness that calls to mind 80s anime in a way I'm deeply happy with.

Also: Dead Cells.

I'll update with any more sketches I do before month's end when we get there! In the meantime, please enjoy. Any of these in particular appeal to you?

UPDATE 2.1.22: Nine more, including some fanart for a wonderful little indie game you should play.
