One of you lovely people recently reached out asking to see some of the videos I have used for reference in Blades of Furry and I thought that might be an interesting thing to do! I’m not sure how I’m going to do it exactly, as I didn’t keep track of the specific videos I used as reference for specific moments and my memory can only do so much… BUT

This is def the video that started it all. As in, my obsession with Figure Skating to begin with. This was Yuzuru Hanyu’s Free program from the 2017 Worlds Championship! I linked the one WITH the commentator track as this is what I watched back in the day & it gives context as to what was going on with Yuzu during that competition. I can’t exactly explain why this program rewired my brain, but I hope you feel some of what I feel watching it!

It’s no secret I often model Emile’s costumes after Yuzuru Hanyu, and this is the absolute first one! looking back I really with I could make it a bit more detailed, but starting a webtoon is a daunting task and I wanted to simplify things as much as possible.

This is actually also the costume for the original designs, from when Blades of Furry was a Storyboard/Animatic and not a comic!

Yuzuru Hanyu’s costumes are designed by the extremely talented Satomi Ito ( https://www.instagram.com/stm_ito/ ) . If you look through her feed you’ll probably find many costumes you can find simplified and furrified in the comic.
