# The bigining
"I still can't believe you convinced me to drive five hours for a cabin weekend," Nick said, pulling his sedan onto the gravel driveway. The wooden cabin loomed before them, nestled among towering pines that swayed gently in the autumn breeze.
Sasha turned around from the passenger seat, grinning at Kelly and Matthew squeezed in the back. "Oh come on, when's the last time we all hung out properly? Between Kelly's art exhibitions and Matt's training schedule, we barely see each other anymore."
"I mean, she's got a point," Kelly chimed in, running a hand through her purple-streaked hair. She was wearing one of Matthew's old football jerseys as a dress, paired with chunky combat boots. "Plus, I needed a break from gallery prep. If I have to arrange one more installation piece, I'm going to scream."
Matthew stretched as best he could in the cramped backseat, his muscular frame making the space seem even tighter. "At least you're not stuck with university recruitment tours. I swear, if another parent asks me about their kid's 'natural athletic talent'..."
"Alright, alright," Nick conceded, putting the car in park. "But I still say we could've done a game night at my place."
Sasha rolled her eyes, already hopping out of the car. "In your tiny apartment with your three roommates? Besides," she added with a mischievous glint in her eye, "I brought something special for tonight."
"Should we be worried?" Matthew asked, helping Kelly with her oversized weekend bag. "Last time you said that, we ended up crashing a stranger's wedding."
"That was one time!" Sasha protested, pulling her own bag from the trunk. "And admit it, the cake was amazing."
Nick adjusted his glasses, squinting at the cabin. "Please tell me you at least remembered the keys this time."
"Of course I did," Sasha rummaged through her pockets, then her bag, her confident expression faltering slightly. "They're just... um..."
"Under the flower pot," Kelly supplied helpfully, already lifting the ceramic pot by the door. "The rental confirmation email mentioned it like three times."
"I was getting to that," Sasha said primly, snatching the keys. "Now come on, let's check this place out!"
The interior of the cabin was surprisingly spacious, with an open-plan living area dominated by a stone fireplace. A modern kitchen occupied one corner, while a spiral staircase led to the bedrooms above.
"Dibs on the master bedroom!" Kelly called out, already dragging Matthew toward the stairs.
"Hey, why do you guys automatically get the big room?" Sasha protested, following them up.
"Because we're actually a couple?" Matthew suggested, earning a playful punch from Kelly.
"No, because I called dibs. Those are the rules."
Nick trailed behind them, taking in the rustic decor. "There are rules for dibs now?"
"There are always rules," Kelly said solemnly. "Like how shotgun doesn't count unless you can see the car."
"That's oddly specific," Nick mused, setting his bag down in one of the smaller bedrooms.
"Speaking of rules," Sasha called from downstairs, where she'd already returned to rummage through her bag, "wait until you see what I brought!"
The others made their way back down to find Sasha triumphantly holding up a board game box. The cover featured intricate golden designs and mysterious symbols around the edges.
"'Truth or Consequences'?" Nick read skeptically. "Sounds like a dollar store Truth or Dare knockoff."
"I found it on this weird specialty game site," Sasha explained, setting it on the coffee table. "The reviews were wild. People saying it was 'life-changing' and 'literally transformative'."
"So it's a scam," Nick concluded.
"Or it's just really good," Sasha countered. "Come on, where's your sense of adventure?"
"I left it somewhere around hour three of the drive," Nick deadpanned, but he was already settling onto one of the couches.
Matthew grabbed four beers from the cooler they'd brought, passing them around. "Well, I'm in. Better than another round of Monopoly."
"God, anything but Monopoly," Kelly agreed, curling up next to him. "Nick still owes me rent from last time."
"That game was three months ago!"
"Rent is rent, Nicholas."
Sasha began setting up the board, which unfolded to reveal an elaborate spiraling path marked with different colored spaces. "Okay, so it's basically Truth or Dare, but with actual stakes. You land on a space, you either answer the truth or do the dare. If you refuse or fail..." she consulted the rulebook, "you face 'consequences'."
"That's not ominous at all," Nick muttered.
"What kind of consequences?" Matthew asked, leaning forward with interest.
"Doesn't say exactly," Sasha admitted. "But look at these special spaces - they're all marked with different symbols. The rulebook calls them 'transformation spaces' or something."
"Transformation into what? A frog?" Kelly joked, but she was examining the board with growing curiosity.
"Only one way to find out," Sasha said, pulling out four elaborately designed game pieces. "Who's going first?"
They looked at each other, a mixture of skepticism and intrigue on their faces. Finally, Matthew shrugged and reached for a piece.
"What's the worst that could happen?" he said, placing his token at the start.
Nick looked at the mysterious board, then at his friends' eager faces, and sighed. "Why do I feel like we're going to find out?"
The game was about to begin, and none of them had any idea just how right Nick's apprehension would turn out to be.
# Round 1
"Right then," Sasha grabbed the dice, letting them roll between her fingers. "Let's see what this mysterious game has in store for us."
She rolled a four, moving her piece to a blue space. A card materialized from seemingly nowhere on the board, causing Nick to jump slightly.
"Okay, that's a neat trick," he admitted, adjusting his glasses. "Probably some kind of magnetic mechanism..."
"Truth," Sasha read, ignoring Nick's attempt to deconstruct the game's mechanics. "What's the most embarrassing thing you've done while drunk?"
"Oh, that's easy," she laughed, taking a swig of her beer. "Remember Nick's birthday last year? When I tried to convince that bouncer I was a famous Ukrainian pop star?"
"And then you started singing what you claimed was your 'biggest hit'," Kelly added, nearly spilling her drink as she laughed. "Which was just the Pokemon theme song in a fake accent!"
"Hey, it worked! He let us in, didn't he?"
As they laughed, a subtle warmth spread through Sasha's chest. She shifted slightly, her top feeling just a touch snugger than before, but she was too focused on the game to notice.
"Your turn, Nick," she said, passing him the dice.
Nick rolled a three, landing on a red space. Another card appeared.
"Dare," he read reluctantly. "Do your best impression of another player for 30 seconds."
"Oh god," he groaned, but stood up anyway. He ran a hand through his hair dramatically, putting on an exaggerated confident stance.
"Hey everyone, I'm Sasha!" he declared in a higher pitch. "Let's do something crazy! Who wants to crash a wedding? Or break into a water park? Or maybe buy a mysterious board game that will probably kill us all!"
"I do not sound like that!" Sasha protested, but she was laughing too hard to be genuinely offended.
As Nick sat back down, he felt a slight tingling sensation throughout his body, but dismissed it as just the beer kicking in.
Kelly snatched up the dice next. "My turn!" She rolled a five, landing on another blue space.
"Truth: What's the weirdest place you've ever had sex?"
"Oh my god," Matthew covered his face, already knowing what was coming.
"The university's art supply closet," Kelly answered without hesitation. "Right between the ceramic glazes and the spare easels."
"Wait, when was this?" Sasha leaned forward, intrigued.
"Last month? Remember when Matt came to 'help me organize my studio space'?"
"That's why you were covered in clay dust!" Nick exclaimed. "I thought you said you'd been sculpting!"
"Well, technically..." Kelly started, but Matthew threw a cushion at her before she could finish. As she laughed, she absently tugged at her leggings, which felt slightly tight around her thighs.
"Alright, my turn to embarrass myself," Matthew said, grabbing the dice. He rolled a six, landing on a golden space.
"Ooh, one of the special ones!" Sasha peered at the symbol. "Looks like... a muscle?"
A card appeared, more ornate than the others. "Dare: Do 20 push-ups in under 30 seconds."
"Please," Matthew scoffed, already moving to the floor. "I do that as a warm-up."
He completed the push-ups with ease, barely breaking a sweat. As he sat back up, his rugby shirt felt a bit more snug across his shoulders, but he attributed it to the workout.
"Well, that wasn't so bad," Nick commented, reaching for the dice again. "Maybe we were worried about nothing..."
But as they continued playing, none of them noticed how Sasha's already generous chest was straining slightly against her top's buttons, or how Kelly's legs were looking longer and more toned against the couch. Even the men's subtle changes went unnoticed - Matt's broader shoulders, Nick's slightly taller frame.
The game was just getting started, and its true nature was yet to be revealed.
"Wait," Kelly said suddenly, squinting at Sasha. "Is that a new top? It looks... different."
"No, same old thing," Sasha replied, unconsciously adjusting her increasingly tight blouse. "Though the wash might have shrunk it a bit..."
"Speaking of clothes," Matthew added, rolling his shoulders, "I swear this shirt fit perfectly this morning."
"It's probably just the heat from the fireplace," Nick reasoned, though he couldn't help tugging at his own collar. "Should we order that pizza before we get too caught up in the game?"
"Good call," Sasha agreed, pulling out her phone. "Same as usual? Though I'm weirdly hungry... might need an extra large this time."
As they debated toppings and placed their order, the subtle changes continued, unnoticed but steady. The real transformations were still to come, but the foundation was being laid with each roll of the dice.
# Round 2
The pizza arrived just as they were starting the next round. Sasha jumped up to get it, stumbling slightly as her center of gravity felt... different. Her chest seemed heavier, and she could have sworn the door handle was lower than before.
"Right, where were we?" she asked, setting down the boxes. "My turn, wasn't it?"
She rolled the dice, landing on a red space. "Dare: Dance to a song of the group's choosing without missing a beat."
"Oh, I've got just the thing," Kelly grinned wickedly, scrolling through her phone. The opening notes of an obscure K-pop song filled the cabin.
Sasha threw herself into the challenge with characteristic enthusiasm, matching the complicated choreography surprisingly well. As she moved, her blouse buttons strained even more noticeably, and her movements seemed to cover more ground than they should have.
"Nailed it!" she declared triumphantly, flopping back onto the couch, which creaked slightly under her weight.
Nick rolled next, landing on a blue space. "Truth: What's your biggest regret from university?"
He shifted uncomfortably, tugging at his sleeve. "Not asking out..." he paused, glancing quickly at Sasha before looking away. "Not asking out someone I really liked."
The familiar warmth spread through him again, more noticeable this time. His legs felt cramped under the coffee table, forcing him to readjust his position.
Kelly's turn came up. She rolled onto a blue space. "Truth: What's the real reason you broke up with your ex before Matthew?"
Her face fell slightly. She opened her mouth, closed it, then shook her head. "Skip. Some things are better left in the past."
Immediately, a strange sensation washed over her, like being gently compressed. Her oversized jersey didn't look quite as oversized anymore, and her feet suddenly had more room in her boots.
Matthew watched with a slight frown but said nothing as he took his turn. "Truth: What's your biggest insecurity about your relationship?"
He glanced at Kelly, who was still looking uncomfortable from her previous turn. "That I'm not creative enough to keep up with her world," he admitted quietly.
The warmth hit him instantly, and he felt his rugby shirt grow even tighter across his chest and shoulders.
"This pizza seems smaller than usual," Sasha commented, trying to break the tension. She was holding a slice in hands that somehow made it look like mini-sized pizza.
"Maybe we're just extra hungry," Nick suggested, though he had to slide his chair back further from the table to accommodate his lengthening legs.
Kelly pulled Matthew's jersey more tightly around herself, suddenly feeling smaller than usual next to him on the couch. The height difference between them seemed more pronounced, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why.
They all noticed the changes now, in their own ways - how Sasha's movement caused buttons to strain dangerously, how Nick's jeans no longer reached his ankles, how Kelly seemed to be swallowed by her clothes, how Matthew's sleeves were approaching three-quarter length. But some unspoken agreement kept them from mentioning it out loud.
"Next round?" Sasha suggested, reaching for the dice again, her movements causing another button to pop loose unnoticed.
The others nodded, each privately wondering if they were imagining things. The game continued, its mysterious influence growing stronger with each turn, while the cabin's shadows seemed to shift and dance in the firelight, making it hard to trust their eyes about the subtle changes taking place.
# Round 3
"Okay, my turn again," Sasha reached for the dice, her movements making her increasingly aware of how her clothes didn't quite fit right anymore. She landed on a red space.
"Dare: Do a handstand for 30 seconds."
She looked at her arms, which felt oddly weaker than usual. "I... I don't think I can. Skip."
The sensation was immediate and unmistakable this time - like being slowly deflated. Her previously straining top suddenly felt loose, hanging off her diminishing frame. She had to grab her jeans as they threatened to slip down her shrinking hips.
Nick rolled next, landing on a blue space. "Truth: What's your deepest fear about your future?"
He took a deep breath, adjusting his glasses which somehow seemed smaller on his face. "That I'll always be too afraid to take risks and end up watching life pass me by."
The growth hit him like a wave. His chair groaned as he expanded, his shoulders broadening noticeably. The sleeves of his button-down shirt rode up his lengthening arms, and his feet pushed against the coffee table.
Kelly's turn came, her hands looking notably smaller as she rolled the dice. Red space.
"Dare: Sing your most embarrassing guilty pleasure song in front of everyone."
She shook her head immediately, hugging Matthew's jersey closer around her increasingly tiny frame. "No way. I'll take the skip."
The shrinking was dramatic this time. Her legs, which had been so impressively toned earlier, withered to stick-like proportions. The combat boots nearly fell off her diminutive feet, and she had to roll up the jersey's sleeves several times just to free her hands.
Matthew watched with wide eyes as he took his turn, landing on a blue space. "Truth: What's the one secret you've never told anyone?"
He cleared his throat, his voice somehow deeper than before. "I... I sometimes wish I'd chosen art instead of sports. I actually love painting."
The growth spurt that followed was impossible to ignore. His rugby shirt, already tight, split slightly at the seams as his frame expanded. He had to spread his legs wider to accommodate his new size, and Kelly looked like a child next to him on the couch.
There was a moment of tense silence as they all looked at each other, the changes now glaringly obvious. Finally, Sasha broke.
"Okay, is anyone else going to mention the bloody elephant in the room?" she burst out, gesturing wildly with her now-smaller hands. "I'm literally drowning in my clothes here, while Nick and Matt look like they've been mainlining steroids!"
"Oh thank god," Nick exhaled, his larger frame making the chair look comically small. "I thought I was going mental. My feet are hanging off the end of my jeans!"
"Look at my legs!" Kelly exclaimed, standing up to demonstrate how Matthew's jersey now hung to her ankles like a dress. "They're like bloody toothpicks!"
Matthew stood too, causing them all to gasp slightly as he nearly bumped his head on the cabin's ceiling. "This... this is the game, isn't it? It's actually changing us?"
"But that's impossible," Nick said, even as he had to look down further than usual to meet Sasha's eyes. "Size changing board games don't exist."
"Tell that to my clothes," Sasha retorted, holding up her loose blouse that had been straining at the seams just two rounds ago. "This isn't just our imagination. We're actually changing sizes!"
Kelly moved to stand next to Matthew, the height difference between them now almost comical. The top of her head barely reached his chest. "Should we... should we stop playing?"
They all looked at the board, which seemed to pulse with a subtle golden light in the fireplace's glow.
"I don't know if we can," Sasha said slowly, picking up the rulebook again. "Look at this: 'The game must be played to completion. Abandoning the game before reaching the end will result in permanent consequences.'"
"Permanent?" Nick's voice cracked slightly, his larger frame tense with worry. "You mean we could stay like this?"
"Well then," Matthew said, carefully sitting back down and making the couch groan under his increased weight, "I guess we better keep playing."
They all exchanged nervous glances, the reality of their situation finally sinking in. The game had shown its true nature, and they were committed now, for better or worse.
"My turn again," Sasha said, reaching for the dice with visibly trembling hands. "Let's see what other surprises this thing has in store for us..."
# Round 4
Sasha's roll landed her piece on a golden space, the symbol showing two arrows crossing paths. A card materialized, more ornate than the others.
"Size Exchange," she read aloud. "Your size will be exchanged with the player to your left."
Before anyone could react, the now-familiar tingling sensation washed over both Sasha and Nick. It was like watching a bizarre mirror effect - Nick's impressive height and bulk seemed to flow out of him like water, streaming into Sasha's diminutive frame. Within seconds, their proportions had completely switched.
"Oh my god," Sasha gasped, now towering over the coffee table. Nick's loose button-down shirt, which had been straining across his chest moments ago, now fit her perfectly. She flexed experimentally, admiring her new size. "This is... different."
Nick, meanwhile, had shrunk into Sasha's previous size, her blouse now hanging loosely on his reduced frame. "This isn't fair! I worked hard for that size!"
"Your turn, tiny," Sasha smirked, enjoying her new perspective as she passed him the dice.
Nick landed on a red space. "Dare: Arm wrestle the player to your right." He looked up - way up - at Sasha, who was already placing her elbow on the table with a predatory grin.
"Come on then," she teased. "Show me what you've got."
Nick tried his best, straining with all his might, but Sasha's massive arm didn't budge an inch. She was clearly enjoying his futile efforts.
"Aw, struggling there?" she taunted. "Here, try with both hands. I'll even let you stand up for better leverage."
Even with both hands wrapped around her one, Nick couldn't move Sasha's arm. She finally ended his humiliation by easily pressing his hands down to the table.
"I think that counts as a fail," she chuckled. Nick immediately felt himself shrink even further, his clothes now practically falling off his tiny frame.
Kelly's turn brought her to a blue space. "Truth: What's your secret fantasy?" She glanced at Matthew, now grinning. "Always wanted to be the big spoon."
The growth hit her fast and strong. Her previously stick-thin legs filled out dramatically, muscles rippling as she shot up in height. She was still shorter than Matthew, but not by much.
"Stand up," she commanded, moving next to him. "Let's compare."
Matthew's turn landed him on a red space. "Dare: Complete a gymnastics roll." He looked down at his bulky frame, knowing it was impossible at his size.
The shrinking was immediate and dramatic. Kelly's eyes lit up as she realized she was now taller than him.
"Oh, this is brilliant," she laughed, moving to stand behind him. "Flex your arm, Matt."
He did so reluctantly, still impressive but notably smaller than before. Kelly raised her arm behind his, her bicep peak rising visibly higher than his.
"Look how the tables have turned," she purred, resting her chin on top of his head.
"I think I've figured it out," Nick said from his now-tiny position on the couch. "The changes are getting more extreme with each round. It's exponential."
"Which means," Sasha added, casually lifting the coffee table with one hand just because she could, "things are only going to get more interesting."
"Let's make this more fun," Kelly suggested, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Boys, stand back to back. Let's see just how much you've shrunk."
The men complied, both notably smaller than their starting sizes though Matthew still towered over Nick. The women circled them like sharks, enjoying their new physical dominance.
"Remember when you used to be the tall one?" Sasha teased Nick, easily lifting him by his shoulders to demonstrate the height difference.
"And you," Kelly said to Matthew, flexing her arm next to his again, "used to be so proud of these muscles. Now look who's bigger."
"Should we keep playing?" Nick asked nervously, having to look almost straight up to meet Sasha's eyes.
"Oh, absolutely," Sasha replied, settling back into her chair which groaned under her new weight. "I'm just starting to enjoy myself."
The fire crackled in the background as they prepared for the next round, the women's confidence growing with their size while the men wondered just how much more they would shrink. The game was far from over, and its transformations were only getting started.
# Round 5
Sasha rolled onto a red space, her now-massive frame making the couch groan in protest. "Dare: Complete ten one-handed pushups."
She laughed, rising to her full height. "That would've been impossible an hour ago."
With her enhanced strength, the pushups were effortless. Each rep made her grow even larger, her already considerable height pushing past eight feet. The buttons of her borrowed shirt strained against her expanding frame.
"Show off," Nick muttered as he took the dice. He landed on a blue space.
"Truth: What are your true feelings about the player to your right?"
Nick's face went pale as he glanced up at Sasha. "I... I pass."
The shrinking hit him hard and fast. His already diminutive frame contracted rapidly until he stood barely over three feet tall. His clothes hung like tents around him.
"Aw, someone's shy," Sasha cooed, easily scooping him up like a child. She cradled him in arms that could have easily lifted a refrigerator. "You're actually kind of cute at this size."
"Put me down!" Nick protested, his voice higher than before. But Sasha just adjusted him in her arms, his entire body dwarfed by her massive frame.
Kelly rolled next, landing on a blue space. "Truth: What's your deepest regret about your art career?"
She took a deep breath. "Letting my parents talk me out of that residency in Paris last year. I should have gone for it."
The growth was immediate and dramatic. Her already impressive height shot up past eight feet, her muscles swelling with new power. The seams of her shorts protested as her legs expanded, finally giving up with a loud rip.
Matthew's turn brought him to a red space. "Dare: Carry Kelly across the room bridal style."
He looked up at his girlfriend, now nearly twice his size, and sighed. "Pass."
The shrinking reduced him to Kelly's shoulder height, his formerly impressive build now looking almost delicate.
"Look at you two," Kelly grinned, easily lifting Matthew to demonstrate their new size difference. "Nick's like a little doll, and Matt's not much bigger."
"Speaking of size differences," Sasha shifted Nick to one arm so she could flex the other, "I think these guns are bigger than your whole torso now, tiny."
The last button of her shirt finally surrendered with a ping, ricocheting off the wall. "Oops," she laughed, having to adjust her stance to compensate for her enhanced weight.
"Hang on," Nick said from his perch in Sasha's arms, trying to maintain some dignity despite his position. "Looking at the board... Sasha, you're only three spaces from the finish. If you roll high enough next turn..."
"We could end the game," Kelly finished, looking down at Matthew thoughtfully. "And everything would go back to normal."
The women exchanged a glance.
"You know," Sasha said slowly, adjusting her grip on Nick, "I'm actually quite tired. Maybe we should take a break?"
"Good idea," Kelly agreed, already heading toward the stairs with Matthew. "Rest up for the final round."
"But-" Nick started to protest, but Sasha was already moving, having to duck significantly to clear the doorframe.
"Time for bed, little man," she teased, carrying him toward her room. "We can finish the game tomorrow."
"If we want to," Kelly added with a wink, disappearing into her room with Matthew.
The cabin fell quiet except for the creak of floorboards under the women's enhanced weight and the soft click of doors closing. The game board sat abandoned in the living room, its golden spaces gleaming mysteriously in the dying firelight, waiting for the final round that would change everything back to normal.
If, that is, the winners decided to finish playing at all.
