(Grunts in frustration)

Apple is implementing a new 30% fee just for the privilege of using the Patreon app to make payments. This applies ONLY to those using an iPhone or iPad. If you're on Android or a computer, lucky you—feel free to disregard this message.

So, here's the deal: Apple decided to throw in a 30% fee on any purchase you make on Patreon through their iOS app. And guess what? Neither Patreon nor the creators you support see a single cent of that fee. This is pure profit for Apple, and Patreon is stuck charging this extra fee because otherwise, they can’t keep their app on Apple products. How nice, right?

Want to avoid this nonsense?
Simple. Pay for anything Patreon-related on a desktop/website or an Android device. Just stay away from the iOS (Apple) app when it comes to payments.

Who does this affect?

  • If you're already paying for your tier and it’s set to auto-renew each month, you're safe.

  • If you’re thinking of upgrading your tier or finally deciding to go from a free member to a paying one, do yourself a favor and use a computer or Android device to make that payment.

  • If you unsubscribe and then re-subscribe, be prepared to see that fee if you use the app. Again, go to the Patreon website on a computer to pay instead.

  • If you’re new here and thinking about signing up, skip the headache—use a computer and avoid that fee.

In short, if you don't want to be hit with a 30% upcharge for using the Patreon app on an Apple device, you'll need to make your payments on a computer or Android device.

But can I still use the app for other things?
Yes, you can still use the Patreon app for liking posts, commenting, and all that other stuff. Just steer clear of making payments there.

Hope this helps you dodge some completely unnecessary fees.
