Soo, remember how I said I miiight add concerts if I got time left? Yeah, I kinda really wanted to add them, so I sort of did. It was actually quite easy as I copied most of the pron studio code and rewrote some of it, obviously.
Right now it works like this:
1. You get to 25 company status and start the music division.
2. You pick a name for the music division and pick one of three managers, all lower level popstars (Maggie Lindemann, Carly Rae Jepsen or Sabrina Carpenter)
3. You start off with a handful of stars, including the three managers, and can recruit more after completing various tasks for each
Organizing a new concert works like this:
1. You pick a star. They have an initial fee, take a percentage of sales and a popularity stat (based that on monthly amount of listeners on spotify only). Some stars will give you discounts based on friendship or if you hired them as managers for example.
2. You pick one of three hollywood venues with differing capacity
3. You pick a ticket price between $50 and $200
4. You pick low, medium or high promotion (cost is based on star popularity, mostly for balance reasons)
5. The game calculates tickets sold based on star popularity, ticket price and promotion. You get whatever's left after the star takes her percentage
I spent about two hours balancing the profits and got it to a point where it's pretty good. You can't charge $200 for a popularity 20 star or you'll only sell a few tickets, whereas an Ariana Grande show for $50 will always sell out.
The only issue right now is that, kind of like with shows where it's most profitable to do the same thing over and over, there's little reason to do concerts with the lower level girls apart from just liking them. I'm not sure I can and will fix this as it's realistic I suppose. A Taylor Swift show will always be more profitable than a Charli XCX one for example. The only thing I'm gonna do about this is locking the really big stars behind a few objectives so you'll start out with some lower popularity ones while working towards the bigger ones :)
So far there's no sexiness going on yet. I'll eventually do a little concert scene where you can go backstage but for now I just wanted to code the mechanics of it and get the formulas working. I like having a big feature to work on as well as smaller ones so whatever I'm in the mood for, I can always work on something.
PS: yes, the menu pictures are quite Ariana-heavy. She'll always be my favorite and I'm not afraid to show it! :)
