I went to my very first public onsen, or bath house with natural thermal waters, and as I observed the other women, they all surprisingly spent almost more time showering at these little stations than soaking in the actually springs themselves!! Cleanliness, I’ve learned, is a huge part of Japanese culture.
Every Airbnb we stayed at had a stool and bucket for these types of showers which I thought was soo cool. It’s a much more relaxing way to wash away the grunge of the day.
Anywhooo, I thought I’d take part in the ritualistic manner of cleaning myself, but of course while you’re watching….😏 Wash and scrub as I might, the dirty still remains in me…heheh
