🥀 So Close to touching Heaven ✨🙏
Some guy on Insta commented, "This is so much nicer than most of the half naked women I see on here" in response to one of my POV affirmation/self care posts a couple of days ago. Little does he know 😂, but I blocked him from seeing any more of of my content there within seconds of seeing that comment from him.
A woman's body is not a health violation, exposed or covered. Positive affirmation to women for being "better" than other women who are not as "pure" is not safe positive affirmation. It's a weird form of behavior modification, and control. Something I've learned that is very important in my own healing process from purity culture is understanding the difference in safe vs unsafe positive affirmation.
Positive affirmation that is intended to reinforce "dressing modestly" is not safe affirmation. Clothes off or on, I've learned that my body is not danger to society. It's just my body. Sometimes I like to exist scantily clad in that body for serotonin. But more importantly, I surround myself now with people who do not weaponize affirmation by giving or withholding positive affirmation based on the behavior they want from me. They simply affirm me, as I am 😇
