Today is Rare Disease Day!!!! 💛
It’s hard to have a healthy body image when your insides don’t work properly, but I’m showing off my colors and scars anyway! 🌈
*Any $ helps immensely with medical bills
While endometriosis itself isn’t rare (1/10 people with a uterus have it), the way it manifested in my body is incredibly uncommon.
DIE (deep infiltrating endo) of the urinary system is rare and is found in about 1%–5.5% of all people with endometriosis.
I had endo on BOTH ureters very early on, which is extremely uncommon and can lead to rapid bilateral renal failure, and needs lifelong monitoring
Ureteral endo makes up 0.1%–0.4% of genitourinary tract endometriosis. Ureters are the second most common site of the urinary tract affected by endometriosis with a ratio of bladder/ureter/kidney/urethral endometriosis of 40:5:1:1
I also have other rare diseases, such retroperitoneal fibrosis! You can check out my full list of “problems” on my Joint Talk With Jackie Series
Stay strong!!!! 💪💛
