Just wanted to send some love to the victims of Hurricane Helene and those in the path of Hurricane Milton. My heart is absolutely broken. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, I was a teenager and went with my church to the Gulf to help with the clean up effort. I will never forget the devastation I saw. How so much could be taken away by wind and rain.
What you are going through is not fair. It’s not ok. I know there is not much I can do to make this situation any better for you, but I want you to know that from another human, another American, your pain is validated, your worry understood. I don’t send prayers because I don’t believe in god, but I will send what hope I have in your resilience and in capacity for humanity to have compassion, empathy, and care for each other.
