while the technological world is in disarray, enjoy these beautiful nudes that my partner took of me!! when i tell you i felt b e a u t i f u l . one thing i admire / appreciate about my body is the ability i have to show movement in still photos. reteaching myself to move in regards to posing was definitely not an overnight process -- i've been practicing every day, in some capacity, to push myself past the physical limits that i often ran into with my modeling. to make the kind of art i want to make, i had to make myself more fluid. a few tips for models looking to create more dynamic poses: - stretch before you shoot. i'm not kidding. i regularly take 15 - 20 minutes to deeply stretch and prep my body for a shoot. i don't rush it, and i don't feel weird for asking for time to do it. it makes all of my work better, because i'm not asking for life from stiff muscles. - eat a banana. it helps with bloating and the sugars in it give me a little boost of energy right before i shoot (and ultimately don't eat for at least another hour). because i usually avoid meals within two hours of a shoot, it's nice to have a pick-me-up going into it. - practice posing, then close your eyes. look in a mirror, get everything perfect about the pose you're trying to create, and then close your eyes. try and pay attention and remember exactly how you're holding yourself: shoulder back and dropped, mouth open, eyes heavy, etc. then, break the pose and try it again with your eyes closed. do this a few times until you feel comfortable moving in and out of the pose without needing the mirror.
