Hi everyone ❤️ I had to take a little break after Zeta died. For those who don’t know Zeta, he’s an Australian Shepherd I pulled off death row at the shelter in January. He had 2 broken legs and was heartworm positive. He needed about $10,000 of treatment, and onlyfans and donations to my charity made that possible.
With his new legs, he was the happiest boy and lived a great quality of life. The last week of heartworm treatment, he died very unexpectedly. Took a nap in his dog bed and never woke up. The autopsy said he most likely had a bl00d clot from the dead heartworms.
I’ll be back today, I just needed time to accept what happened. The cardiologist said it was a freak accident, but I still feel so guilty. I’m the one that okayed the treatment that killed him. Heartworms would have killed him eventually, but maybe he would have had more time with us. Maybe if I chose a slow kill method, things would have been different. Maybe if I chose a different vet. This so rarely happens, but it happened to my sweet boy. He was the best dog.
