#HappenedToday

Today we took a walking tour of Old Dubai, led by a friendly and knowledgeable guide, Khan. He showed us several old-style traditional houses and explained fascinating things about the history, culture, and everyday life of the people from the United Arab Emirates. As usually I had a lot of questions, and he was happy to answer.

Khan treated us to traditional coffee with saffron and cardamom, paired with dates and some little doughnuts "luqaimat" . We also tried some street food: samboosa.

We then wandered through the souks, starting with the textile souk. It was interesting to hear about the different regions these fabrics come from. At a spice shop, we had tea made with camel milk and saffron. After that, we explored the gold souk, and oh my, the windows were absolutely stunning. The craftsmanship of the jewelry is incredible.

We ended the day with a traditional dinner at Al Kaima Heritage Restaurant. It was in a private room, which felt so special, and the food..., I think it might have been the best Arabian dish I’ve ever had. The service was incredible, and everything was so beautifully presented.

Dubai, you made me love you.

The second day was more intense! Started with breakfast on the ship-restaurant called «Фригат Благодать» : I had a delicate creamy pasta with grated black truffle (I tried truffle for the first time, but I didn’t understand the taste at all), and I also tried scallops for the first time - delicate texture and pleasant taste, although I’m not a big fan sea food 🦑

After such an unusual breakfast, a walk through the city center followed to our next planned point. On the way, we were accompanied by beautiful landscapes, small canals with many motor boats, the «Спас на крови» museum-monument.

The goal was to reach the legendary local bakery. In Russian, we call it «пышечная». It’s located on «Большая Конюшная, 25» street. The excitement for their products is really big. The live line started on the street, but pretty quickly we got inside. We bought two «пышки», it cost only 40 rubles. Simple and delicious! 😋✨

After that, our walk continued. By the way, we were really lucky with the weather - it was sunny and warm. Of the beautiful interesting buildings, I’ll note the Kazan Cathedral, the house of the Singer company and another building in the photo, I don’t know what it’s called honestly…

And guess how the evening ended? Of course, another interesting place! It's called the Hammer of the Witches, «Молот ведьм» in Russian, and the address is «Разъзжая, 37». They position themselves as a bar-museum of dark forces. Inside, everything really looks like this. Various paintings, bottles, old books and more. At this place, you will get delicious food, but the most interesting of this is their cocktails with stories. About 25 unique cocktails with a little history from the past. And also, I would never have thought that I would want to take a picture of the toilet so much, but look how unusual they are! Definitely recommend this place to visit! ❤️
