Not sure when these were taken. I just found them in my drive from January of this year. :)
Also, my time in New York has been rather not that great lol! The first day I was in New York, a homeless man approached me while I was eating and asked for food. I offered him to buy him food and he kept trying to push me to withdraw money from a local ATM. I politely refused and then was verbally harassed and followed back to my hotel.
Recently I was at a sushi bento place and another dude approached me while I was paying for my food. He asked me for money and I offered to give him my change. And then he tried to guilt trip me into giving him more. I ended up just walking away and sitting down to eat my food I just purchased, and he came up behind me and grabbed me by the shoulder and started yelling at me about how he's homeless and how rude I am for not helping him amongst other things. I was more shocked that nobody in the restaurant was helping me (the register staff looked away, everybody else eating just looked and stared).
According to Reddit, the best thing you can do is either ignore them or constantly death stare and walk straight ahead with purpose to avoid getting preyed on. But I've had 2 people approach me while inside a restaurant which cannot really be helped...and random people opening doors for me to go into stores without asking and then demanding that I pay. It's super weird! New York is a weird place lol!!
