the time has finally come. after many requests, i said that if we raised 50k on a charity stream, i would do the mara sov cosplay at PAX.
unfortunately, PAX didn't really happen this year, so i figured halloween was the next best thing. i did end up doing about 75% of my own makeup, with amy coming into clean up any blending issues.
the costume was done by at jennlikesthings on twitter and it looks phenomenal, wig by at leecata_ on twitter. i do not make my own costumes, i will likely never make my own, i will literally never have any shame in having them professionally made because i'd much rather have someone who is a pro make something look super good and pay them than to try to do it myself. i just do not have the time right now.
makeup wise, this was pretty similar to moxxi in that i had to entirely cover my face in a color that is not a normal skin tone. with moxxi, it worked pretty well, but her facial features are SO exaggerated, so it was a big easier to pull off in terms of looking moderately feminine. mara on the other hand, is just a face. her face is subtle, not a whole lot going on in terms of anything in particular. darkish purple eyeshadow, purple-ish lips and that's really it. in terms of pulling off mara, i think we nailed it, but in terms of also looking feminine while doing it, that part i think could use some improvement, at least compared to the goth gf stuff from very recently. maybe i'm wrong? idk. still focused on my chin so much even though people tell me it's not as big of a deal that i think it is. i'm not sure how to do that though, but maybe we'll figure that out. wig looked great as well, which helped with the looking feminine part
don't have a ton of pictures mainly because i was super tired and because this mara outfit isn't exactly trying to be sexy or anything like that. i am covered head to toe in costume.
that'll probably do it for a little while. rest of november will be very busy with non-cosplay stuff, so i won't have a lot of time to do anything. however, i wanted to do goth gf santa last year and didn't get to. this year, it's definitely back on the table, especially with some new goth gf confidence from the past week. until then.
