Whiskey is spending his second night without his horse wife while he recuperates for a couple more days, then he can be reunited with her in the big pasture. Horse boys are terrified to be without their horse girls, as the girl horses (mares) are the ones who stay vigilant and warn the boys if there's danger. Without her, he has no idea if there is danger near. Of course he is perfectly safe here, but he doesn't know that yet, give it a few weeks!
Ember is doing about the same physically, but her mood has improved tremendously! An improved outlook on life is the first step on a healing journey. Now she has a reason to want to live, or two; flirting with the handsome boy horses in the adjoining pastures, eating copious amounts of grain, carrots, apples and hay now that her teeth have finally been fixed (she had a sharp sideways tooth digging into her cheeks every time she chewed!) And actually she had a third reason to live, and that is making sure NO ONE eats her precious food! She was previously starved and now that she can eat without pain she is serious about her food rights.
