This is one of my favorite skirts I own! I love it because it's been through so much and has been mended many, many times. The roughness and tattered parts of of the skirt are my favorite- evidence of life and wear. When the fabric starts to get too weak, I will patch it up with another square of fabric. I love seeing all of the different layers of patches and making it strong again. :-)
