Well I had a weird few days. Stared out saying goodbye to our favorite horse. Was time to move him on to some younger kids to learn to rope on. I finished my chicken coop and as I was putting my chickens in, the horses behind started running through the pasture. My bf had taken our new team out and figured he was coming down the road. I was watching for him to show up behind the willows and heard the most awful grinding sound and the team comes by with the wagon flipping and dragging down the road. I couldn’t see far enough to see if he was still on or not. I took off running through the pasture behind the house to go help and was expecting the worst. It was completely flipped and the horses were stuck in the ditch, anticipating him to possibly be stuck underneath. He got thrown off a ways down the road when it flipped and was ok. Something on the wagon impaled his calf when it drug across him, but thankfully no broken bones and he is ok. Just a big nasty gash that thankfully went up into his leg instead of deep into the muscle. Was such a scary moment. The folks we bought them from really lied about their exposure and experience. It was evident when they got here but they seemed to be ok for a while on the ground to be able to hook them up. Blows my mind what people will say to make a dollar, especially when it comes to safety. Just thankful no one else was on the wagon at the time. My wagon is in pretty bad shape but will just start over slowly with the horses. He asked me today to hitch them up and help get them going again. 😂
